A Greek Orthodox parish in the heart of Newcastle

Welcome to St Anthony the Great. We are a parish of the Archdiocese of Thyateira and Great Britain, and we worship in Greek and English in one of Newcastle’s oldest churches. Every Orthodox Christian in the North East, whatever your background, is warmly invited to make this your spiritual home.

Bringing children? They are very welcome – see Children at the Divine Liturgy.

If you are drawn to the Orthodox faith, or simply curious, you are just as welcome. Come to a service, stay for a chat afterwards, or join our weekly catechism classes. We would love to meet you.

Please take your time to explore our website. You will find our service times and calendar, sermons, and pages on the Orthodox faith and the sacraments.

Our patron saint

Our parish is dedicated to St Anthony the Great, the father of monasticism. We keep his feast on 17 January.
